Collection of fifty-one cards (of the sixty-four in the set) from the 1953 Canadian Exhibits set, highlighted by twelve Hall of Famers, including Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Stan Musial, and Tom Lasorda (rookie card). Missing the following thirteen cards for completion: #2, 7, 9, 13 Hodges, 14, 17 Feller, 18, 19 Robinson, 21 Reese, 22 Kiner, 27, 29, and 32 Spahn. The 1953 Canadian Exhibits features both major leaguers and players from the Montreal Royals (Dodgers minor league team) of the International League. The cards measure (3-1/4 x 5-1/4 inches) slightly smaller than the standard U.S. Exhibit cards and have a card number in the corner. Card numbers 1 to 32 can be found with a green or red tint, while card numbers 32 to 64 can be found with a blue or red-brown tint. This near set consists of twenty-two blue tints, eighteen red, ten red-brown, and one green. The cards are blank-backed. Condition is 31% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt (mostly Ex-Mt), 41% Vg-Ex to Ex, and 28% Gd to Vg (including three lesser). We have selected four cards to be professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #6 Irvin (Ex-Mt), 11 Doby (Ex+), 12 Newhouser (Fr), 20 Campanella (EX 5), 24 Doerr (Ex-Mt), 25 Rizzuto (Ex-Mt), 28 J. DiMaggio (Vg, green tint), 30 T. Williams (EX-MT 6), 31 Lemon (Ex-Mt), 50 Lasorda RC (EX 5), 57 Musial (EX-MT 6, reddish-brown tint), and 61 Alston (Ex+). Outstanding near-complete set of these scarce and unusual Exhibit Supply Company cards from the 1950s. Total: 51 cards.
