Description

Presented is a near-complete master set of R310 Butterfinger premiums consisting of fifty-two different out of sixty-six in a set (including the single "x" variation of Jimmy Foxx). Missing the following fourteen premiums for completion: Bartell, Dean, Derringer, Frey, Frisch, Gehrig, Grove, Hornsby, Johnson, Marberry, Martin, O'Farrell, Ott, and Ruth. Included are four duplicates (Gomez, Grabowski, Hogan, and Simmons). Issued with Butterfinger products and other candies, the R310 series is one of the great premium sets produced during the 1930s. An impressive twenty-seven Hall of Famers are featured. Each premium is printed on thin stock measuring 7.75 x 9.5 inches and features the player in a black-and-white image along with a facsimile signature. The fragile paper stock of this issue makes high-grade examples extremely rare, and flaws such as light wrinkling, creasing, or tearing "come with the territory." This is a very presentable lower-grade set, with most of the major flaws, such as tears, chipping, and pinholes, relegated to the perimeter. Condition ranges from Pr to Gd (with a few better). Keys: Averill (Gd), Bottomley (Pr), Cochrane (Pr), Cronin (Fr), Dickey (Pr), Durocher (Pr), Ferrell (Fr), Fox (Jimmy Foxx one "x" variation, Pr), Foxx (Pr), Gehringer (Pr), two Gomez (both Pr), Hafey (Pr), Harris (Pr), Hoyt (Gd), Manush (Pr), Ruffing (Pr), two Simmons (Fr and Pr), Vance (Pr), L. Waner (Pr), and P. Waner (Fr). Complete or near-complete master sets of this issue are very rarely assembled or offered for sale. This is an extremely presentable near-complete set of this desirable 1930s premium issue with numerous highlights! Total: 56 premiums (near set of 52 plus four duplicates).
