1953 Topps partial set composed of 178 of the 274 cards in the set, highlighted by sixteen Hall of Famers, including Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Whitey Ford, and Satchel Paige. 1953 Topps is one of the most popular and collected of all 1950s gum issues and one of the most significant of all postwar baseball-card issues. This partial set does not include any cards from the scarcer high-number series (#221-280). Condition is 50% Ex to Ex-Mt (approximately two-thirds Ex and including a couple Nr/Mt), 39% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 11% lesser (including some due to pinholes). We have selected five cards for grading and encapsulation by SGC. Keys: #1 Robinson (VG 3), 10 Burgess SP (Vg+), 27 Campanella (VG 3), 37 Mathews (EX/NM 6), 41 Slaughter (Ex), 43 McDougald SP (Pr), 54 Feller (EX/NM 6), 62 Irvin (Vg-Ex+), 76 Reese (Vg-Ex), 77 Mize (Pr-Fr), 81 Black SP (Vg), 86 Martin SP (Pr), 104 Berra (Gd), 119 Sain SP (Vg+), 138 Kell (Ex+), 149 D. DiMaggio (20/80 T/B, otherwise Ex-Mt), 151 Wilhelm SP (Vg-Ex+), 162 Kluszewski SP (Ex), 191 Kiner (Ex+), 207 Ford (Vg), and 220 Paige (VG/EX+ 4.5). Missing the following ninety-six cards for completion: #3, 4, 21, 34, 56, 60, 61 Wynn, 68, 70, 78 Schoendienst, 80, 82 Mantle, 87 Lopat, 93, 96, 106, 109, 114 Rizzuto, 115, 128, 133, 137, 139, 141, 143, 146, 147 Spahn, 154, 160, 161, 165, 180, 183, 188, 189, 190, 202, 204, 205, 210, 212, 218, and 221-280 (all seventy-four high-numbers). This is a very attractive and mostly mid-grade partial set of 1953 Topps including several notable highlights. Total: 178 cards.
