Presented is a partial set consisting of seventy-four different cards (out of 98) from the 1948 Leaf football set, the first color football cards of the post-World War II era. Includes seventeen duplicates (#4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 29, 30, two 31, two 32, 41, and 98). Condition is 15% Ex or slightly better, 53% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 32% lesser (mostly from the high-number series [#50-98], mostly due to scrapbook-related damage to corners, and including a few miscut and a couple that measure a bit small). Keys: #1 Luckman RC (Pr-Fr), 3 Turner RC (Vg), two 4 Walker RC (Vg-Ex and miscut left edge, otherwise Vg+), two 6 Layne (Vg-Ex and miscut left edge, otherwise Vg-Ex), 13 Lujack RC (Vg), 15 Justice RC (Gd), 16 Pihos RC (Vg-Ex+), 19 McAfee RC (Vg), 22 Van Buren RC (Vg-Ex), 26 Waterfield RC (Vg-Ex), two 29 Trippi RC (Ex and Vg-Ex), 34 Baugh RC (Vg-Ex), 36 Dudley RC (Vg), 37 Connor RC (Gd), 52 Nomellini RC (Vg-Ex), 53 Conerly RC (Vg+), 54 Bednarik RC (Pr-Fr due to glue at bottom-left corner), 73 Jensen RC (Pr-Fr), and two 98 DiMarco RC (Gd and miscut right edge, otherwise Vg-Ex). Missing the following twenty-four cards for completion: #55, 56, 59, 60, 64, 66, 69, 71, 72, 74, 75, 77, 80, 81, 82, 84, 85, 86, 88, 90, 91 Hart, 93, 95, and 97. This is an impressive collection of this difficult 1940s football card issue, which could serve as the foundation for an attractive complete set. Total: 91 cards (partial set of 74 cards plus 17 duplicates).
