Description

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. This is the ONLY example ever graded by SGC or PSA! The 1915 T214 Victory set is an obscure series of tobacco cards issued exclusively in the Louisiana area, which is sometimes mistaken for the T206 White Border set. Victory Tobacco is one of the few sets that feature players from the Federal League, in addition to featuring players from the National and American leagues. To date, SGC has only graded 61 examples (of any player) from this set, which has a known checklist of 67 cards. Offered is a rare sample card of Rube Geyer of the St. Louis Cardinals from the National League. Victory Tobacco cards have a glossy coated surface that is very susceptible to creasing, and which makes high-grade examples particularly rare. This is a very attractive modestly graded example, with multiple creases and even corner wear. The front is bright and clean with vibrant colors and outstanding registration. The important "Victory Tobacco" advertisement on the reverse has remained intact and is boldly printed. An ideal sample card from this rare issue which would be at home in any St. Louis or prewar-card collection.
