In 1967, when Topps decided to devote a small test issue to the Boston Red Sox, it had no idea that the team would bounce back from their ninth-place finish in the American League the year before and go on to complete one of the greatest turnarounds in baseball history. "The Impossible Dream" season culminated with an American League Pennant, a trip to the World Series for the first time in two decades, and numerous awards bestowed upon players, including the AL MVP to slugger Carl Yastrzemski. This high-grade complete set features head shots of players floating above their names along with colorful logos and slogans such as "I Love The Red Sox" and "Happiness is a Boston Win." The stickers measure the same as their standard Topps counterparts but are on a thinner stock with removable backing. Includes a duplicate of #23 Tillman. Condition is 23% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including a couple Mint) and 77% Ex to Ex-Mt (including a few slightly lesser and a few with a slight miscut). Two stickers have been professionally graded by PSA. Keys: #3 Conigliaro (Ex-Mt), 25 Yastrzemski (MINT 9), 26 D. Williams (Ex-Mt), 29 Yastrzemski for Mayor (NM-MT 8) and 30 Conigliaro is My Hero (Vg-Ex). Total: 34 stickers (set of 33 plus one duplicate).
