Description

Presented is a very attractive complete set of 1973 Topps Candy Lids. Includes a duplicate of Thurman Munson. A colorful portrait of one of fifty-five stars and Hall of Famers of the day is found on the bottom of each lid, with advertising for "Baseball Stars Gum" on the top. An impressive twenty-six Hall of Famers (plus Pete Rose) highlight this set. Each lid in this set displays the expected tab crease caused during removal from the gum container. Without further reference to the tab creases, the condition is 23% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 53% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 24% Vg to Vg-Ex, with the significant number of centering issues common to this set. Keys (without reference to tab creases): Aaron (Ex-Mt due to centering), Bench (Nr/Mt+), Carew (Ex-Mt), Jackson (Ex due to centering), Killebrew (Nr/Mt-Mt), Mays (90/10 centering, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), two Munson (Ex and Vg+), B. Robinson (100/0 centering, otherwise Ex+), Rose (100/0 centering, otherwise Nr/Mt+), Ryan (Nr/Mt-Mt), Seaver (Vg-Ex), and Yastrzemski (Ex-Mt due to centering). This is an impressive complete set of these interesting and unusual Topps "cards." Total: 56 candy lids (set of 55 plus one duplicate).
