Description

Graded NM-MT+ 8.5 by PSA. Only a dozen examples of this card have ever graded higher out of 1,861 evaluated by PSA to date. Beautiful high-grade 1949 Bowman card of Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson. This is one of Robinson’s most striking and popular cards and one of the classics of all postwar bubble-gum cards. 1949 Bowmans have always posed a problem for condition-minded collectors. In addition to the many normal problems encountered with this issue (excessive toning, general wear from fragile paper stock, soft corners, centering issues, and print lines), collectors also have to deal with the wildly varying degrees of print quality that characterize the set. It is easy to see why 1949 Bowmans are one of the most difficult of all issues to collect in high grade. The offered example exhibits brilliant colors, outstanding registration, strong corners and impressive centering. Boldly printed reverse. This is an outstanding high-grade example of one of Robinson’s most classic cards, worthy of the finest 1949 Bowman set, Jackie Robinson, or classic-card collection.
