One of card collecting's classics, Mantle's Topps rookie card is the key to the set, one of the most famous of all cards, and the single most popular and valuable baseball card, having recently claimed the title at $12.6 million in MINT+ condition. This example displays brilliant colors, outstanding registration, moderate corner wear and centering slightly toward the left. The boldly printed reverse shows scattered spots of discoloration. A surface crease on the reverse factors into the assigned grade, as does light staining along the lower right and bottom borders.
