Description

Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Only one example grades higher out of more than 6,600 cards evaluated to date by PSA. This is a stunning example of one of Ted Williams' most popular cards and a tremendous example of this classic 1950s bubble-gum card. Bright and clean, front and back, with flawless colors, sharp corners, and near-perfect centering. The remarkable condition is all the more impressive as this card would naturally receive more handling and wear being card #1 in the set. Though Williams broke into the Majors all the way back in 1939, he was still in top form at the time of this card's issue (his sixteenth major league season). Williams hit .388 in 1957, and the statistics on the reverse of the card show Williams hitting .345 the previous season. A spectacular example of one of Williams' most classic cards, worthy of any world-class 1957 Topps set or Hall of Fame-card collection.
