Description

Presented is a near-complete set of 1966 Topps baseball consisting of 593 different cards (out of 598), highlighted by almost all the major Hall of Famers and stars of the day, including Mickey Mantle, Roberto Clemente, Pete Rose, and Willie Mays, as well as the rookie cards of Jim Palmer, Don Sutton, and Ferguson Jenkins. Missing just the following five cards for completion: #96, 365 Maris, 456, 460, and 500 Aaron. The 1966 Topps set is also well known for the scarcity of the high-number series (#523-598), with many single-printed cards among the high numbers, in addition to being the only Topps set to feature Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays on the same card (#215). Condition is 24% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (mostly Nr/Mt), 64% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 12% Vg to Vg-Ex (including a couple lesser and seven trimmed). Keys: #1 Mays (Fr due solely to small spots of paper loss on reverse), 30 Rose (PSA NM-MT 8 [OC]), 50 Mantle (Vg-Ex+), 70 Yastrzemski (Vg+), 72 Perez (Vg+), 100 Koufax (Nr/Mt), 110 Banks (Vg-Ex), 120 Killebrew (Vg-Ex), 125 Brock (Vg-Ex+), 126 Palmer RC (Ex-Mt), 160 Ford (Ex+), 195 Morgan (Ex), 200 Mathews (Ex), 215 NL Batting Ldrs (Vg), 254 Jenkins RC (Vg-Ex+), 288 Sutton RC (Ex), 300 Clemente (Vg-Ex+), 310 F. Robinson (Ex), 320 Gibson (Vg-Ex), 390 B. Robinson (Vg-Ex), 410 Kaline (Vg-Ex+), 526 Twins SP (Vg-Ex+), 530 Roberts (Ex), 535 Davis SP (80/20 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 540 McLain SP (Vg-Ex), 550 McCovey SP (slight tilt to picture, otherwise Nr/Mt), 555 Perranoski SP (25/75 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt), 561 Coleman SP (Ex), 580 B. Williams SP (Vg-Ex+), 583 Tigers SP (70/30 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt), 590 Skowron SP (Ex), 591 Jackson RC (trimmed and color added, otherwise Vg-Ex), and 598 Perry SP (possible slight trim, otherwise Vg-Ex+). This is a very attractive mid- to high-grade near-complete set of this Topps classic, loaded with stars and Hall of Famers, dating from the heart of the 1960s. Total: 593 cards.
