Lot # 566: 1915 E145 Cracker Jack #88 Christy Mathewson - PSA

Appealing example of New York Giants Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson from the 1915 Cracker Jack series. This is one of Mathewson’s most striking and popular cards. 1915 Cracker Jacks will always be one of the most highly prized and widely collected of all prewar sets. Mathewson is one of the key cards in the set, along with Cobb, Jackson, Johnson, and Wagner. This card has a beautiful red background, a crisp image, and light corner wear. The reverse has bold black text. Please note there is light discoloration along Mathewson's face. Encapsulated as "Authentic - Altered" by PSA due to a slight trim and the lower-left corner pressed. This is a tremendous card representing a potentially extraordinary value for the collector who wants a visually appealing 1915 Cracker Jack Mathewson at a far more affordable level than a graded example with a similar appearance.
