1939 Play Ball #92 Ted Williams signed in black ink on the front. PSA/DNA has graded the signature GEM MINT 10 and certified the card as "Authentic." Ted Williams' Play Ball rookie is part of PSA's Top 250 Sportscards in the Hobby set, based on the book Collecting Sports Legends: The Ultimate Hobby Guide by Joe Orlando, which selects the most significant cards from all the different sports. Because the card itself has always been an extremely highly prized and valuable collectible, it was not an item that the average fan would submit to Williams during a signing show in the 1980s or '90s, which is no doubt in part responsible for the rarity of signed examples today. This is just the sixth signed example we have ever offered. The card displays outstanding image clarity, light corner wear, and excellent centering. It remains an extremely attractive signed example that would be among the highlights of any advanced Ted Williams, Play Ball, or signed Hall of Fame rookie-card collection.
