Lot # 973: 1934 R309-1 Goudey Premium Babe Ruth PSA POOR 1 Plus Original Mailing Envelope

Very presentable example of Babe Ruth from the R309-1 Goudey premiums series. Ruth is the key card from this very substantial, high-quality premium set that was available only by mail in exchange for Goudey Gum wrappers. Printed on thick cardboard stock measuring 5-1/2 by 9 inches, R309-1s are designed with a fold-out cardboard easel attachment on the reverse, which allows the card to stand on its own for display. The easel attachment on this example is complete and intact, minus the centerpiece, which has been removed. Graded POOR 1 by PSA. Condition issues include multiple spots of paper loss (most noticeably on the top-right corner), creasing, and tape residue on the reverse. Despite these obvious flaws, the card is ideal for display. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope with the name and address of the recipient penned on the front.
