Rarely seen complete set of thirty 1931 Metropolitan Studio St. Louis Cardinals cards accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Issued as promotional vehicles for Metropolitan Studio of St. Louis, each card measures approximately 6.25 x 9.5 inches and includes Cardinals team members in a sepia-toned image. Dizzy Dean is the key to the set as it is an early item from his Hall of Fame career. Condition is Vg-Ex to Ex overall, with two Ex-Mt and a couple Vg+. Seven cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: Bottomley (VG-EX 4, HOF), Dean (EX 5, HOF), Frisch (VG-EX 4, HOF), Grimes (VG-EX 4, HOF), Hafey (VG-EX 4, HOF), Haines (EX 5, HOF), Martin (Vg-Ex), and Rickey (VG-EX 4, HOF). The original mailing envelope is in modest condition due to tears, creases, and the separation of all except one edge. This is a scarce regional issue that is sure to be of great interest to St. Louis Cardinals and Dizzy Dean collectors. Total: 31 items (set of 30 cards plus original envelope).
