Description

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Only six examples graded higher out of the more than 2,000 examples evaluated by PSA to date. Condition-sensitive #1 card in extraordinarily high grade featuring New York Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Whitey Ford, from the popular 1951 Bowman issue. Besides being the #1 card in the set, this card also represents Ford's rookie card. The card features bold colors, outstanding registration, strong corners, and excellent centering. The reverse is virtually flawless with no gum or wax stains, as is often the case with 1951 Bowmans. Being the #1 card in the set, it is a true condition rarity. This card naturally gravitated to the top of the stack, usually exposing it to extra wear and handling, thus making high-grade examples far more difficult to find than most other 1951 Bowmans and other Ford cards. This is a magnificent high-grade example of Ford's most sought-after card.
