Lot # 145: 1887 N284 Buchner Gold Coin Cap Anson Left Hand On Hip SGC VG 3

Graded VG 3 by SGC. Very attractive mid-grade example of Hall of Famer Cap Anson (left hand on hip) from the popular N284 Buchner Gold Coin set. Buchners are unusual in that they feature generic illustrations of the ballplayers rather than the actual likeness of the identified player. The offered card features beautiful colors, honest corner wear (weaker bottom left), and spots of age toning. The reverse displays bold blue text. This is a strong Hall of Famer example from the Buchner Gold Coin tobacco set, one of the few full-color baseball-card sets of the nineteenth century and one of the most artistically interesting, distinctive, and classic baseball-card sets of the 1880s.
