Description

Presented is an outstanding near-complete set (minus one) of 1986-1987 Fleer basketball plus a complete stickers set. Missing only #57 Michael Jordan (rookie) for completion. This set marks the first basketball set produced by Fleer since 1961. Fleer stopped producing basketball cards after 1961, and powerhouse competitor Topps ruled the basketball-card market from the late 1960s until the mid-1980s. This set is loaded with superstars and rookie cards of Hall of Famers, including Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, and Akeem Olajuwon. Condition of the base set is 54% Nr/Mt-Mt to Mint, 21% Nr/Mt, and 25% Ex to Ex-Mt (including five Vg to Vg-Ex). We have selected eight cards for grading and encapsulation by SGC. Keys: #1 Abdul-Jabbar (Ex-Mt), 7 Barkley RC (Ex), 9 Bird (Nr/Mt), 26 Drexler RC (MINT 9), 27 Dumars RC (NM/MT+ 8.5), 31 Erving (Ex-Mt), 32 Ewing RC (NM/MT+ 8.5), 53 Johnson (MINT 9), 68 K. Malone RC (MINT 9), 76 Moore (NM/MT+ 8.5), 77 Mullin RC (Nr/Mt-Mt), 82 Olajuwon RC (MINT 9), 109 Thomas RC (65/35 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt+), 121 D. Wilkins RC (NM/MT 8), 131 Worthy RC (Vg+), and 132 Checklist (Vg-Ex+). The condition of the stickers set (without reference to wax on the reverses) ranges from Ex to Nr/Mt overall (averaging Ex-Mt). Keys: #1 Abdul-Jabbar (measures a bit narrow, otherwise Nr/Mt) and 8 Jordan (25/75 T/B and slight tilt to picture, otherwise Nr/Mt). This is an extremely attractive, mostly high-grade near-complete master set (minus one) of this modern classic basketball issue loaded with highlights. Total: 142 cards.
