Description

Complete program issued for the twenty-fourth running of the Indianapolis 500 held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 30, 1936. The 1936 Indy 500 was significant because it introduced the now-iconic Borg-Warner trophy, which today is one of motorsports' most recognizable awards. It also marked Louis Mayer's third victory, making him the race's first three-time winner, and the debut of the famous milk drinking tradition in victory lane. The 96-page program (8.5 x 11 inches) displays moderate handling wear, with both the front and back covers exhibiting creasing and staining. Pages 47-50 are completely detached from the spine but included. Good condition overall.
