Description

Graded NM 7 by PSA. High-grade example of 1933 Goudey card #1 Benny Bengough, the key condition rarity of the 1930s. Bengough is difficult to find even in mid grade, let alone high grade, because card #1 tended to gravitate toward the top of the stack when collected and organized by kids in 1933 and was naturally subjected to the most wear. Today, almost all 1933 Goudey set collectors have no choice but to settle for a low-grade example of Bengough. Even a VG Bengough is very respectable and commands a substantial premium. In fact, a glance at the PSA Population report for this card shows that an extremely high percentage of Bengoughs (94%) range from Poor to VG/EX+. NM is an extremely high PSA grade for Bengough, and examples graded higher are very few and far between. Exceptionally crisp image with bright colors set against a bold red background and printed with flawless registration. Centered to the right with strong corners. The small yellow mark to the right in the background is a natural print mark. The reverse is clean with light natural age toning visible around the perimeter (noted for accuracy). This is an exceptional high-grade PSA example of one of card collecting's most elusive and sought-after condition rarities.
