Description

Classic N300 Mayo's Cut Plug of Hall of Famer Cap Anson dating from his playing days as first baseman and manager of the Chicago Colts (later Cubs). There are very few cards of Anson as a player. The Mayo's Cut Plug is one of the very few. Graded GOOD 2 by SGC, the card displays a crease in the lower right, moderate edge wear, and rounded corners. A premier batsman and leader, Anson is widely regarded as the foremost on-field baseball figure of the 19th century. He led the National League in hitting three times and was the first man to get 3,000 hits. As a manager, he took his Chicago team to five pennants. Mayo's Cut Plug is the premier baseball card set from the 1890s. This is a very desirable example of one of Cap Anson's classic cards from this extremely important and popular 19th century series.
