Description

Modestly graded example featuring New York Yankees Hall of Famer Babe Ruth in his classic follow-through batting pose. Goudey must have realized what an iconic pose this was, because of all the cards in the set, this is the one it chose to double print when replacing missing card #106 during production. This remains one of Ruth's most popular and recognizable baseball cards. Because of being double-printed (there were exactly twice as many Ruth #144s printed as any other card in the same series), this card also represents the best value among the four Ruth cards in the 1933 Goudey set. The offered card has bright colors and a crisp image of Ruth. Graded POOR 1 by SGC due to soiling on the front, paper loss on the back, and heavy corner wear. An excellent opportunity to acquire one of Babe Ruth's classic cards from the popular 1933 Goudey Gum series, and one of card-collecting's most iconic cards.
