Bank check dated July 10, 1929, and signed by Orville Wright (1871-1948), in black fountain pen. The check, drawn on the City National Bank and Trust Company of Dayton, Ohio, is made out to "Lattie Jones" for $40.00. Brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright built and flew the first manned, motor-powered heavier-than-air craft. The first flight, with Orville at the controls, took place at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on December 17, 1903. The success of that flight paved the way for the development of larger and heavier planes shortly after. The check (8-3/4 x 3-1/8 inches) has normal bank cancellation stamps and perforations (not affecting the signature), as well as a vertical fold and minor wrinkles. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from Beckett.
