Presented is a collection of ten assorted 1910-era baseball cards, all depicting Fred Tenney. The Ivy-League educated Tenney was a star of his day, cranking out more than 2,200 hits during a seventeen-year career with the New York Giants and the National League Boston franchise. Tenney is considered one of the top defensive first basemen of the Deadball Era and is credited with originating the 3-6-3 double play and popularizing the defensive positioning (deep and well off first base) that is common to this day. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1906 Fan Craze National League (1 card): Tenney (very small erasure mark on front, otherwise Nr/Mt). 2) 1909-1911 E90-1 American Caramel (1 card): Tenney (laminated front and back, otherwise Pr). 3) 1909-1911 E91-A American Caramel (1 card): Tenney (Pr). 4) 1909-1911 E91-B American Caramel (1 card): Tenney (Gd+). 5) 1909-1911 T206 White Border (2 cards): Two Tenney (Fr, Sweet Caporal, Pr-Fr, Piedmont). 6) 1910-1911 M116 Sporting Life (2 cards): Two Tenney (Pr-Fr due to small spots of paper loss on reverse, pastel background, and Pr with writing on front and paper loss front and back, blue background). 7) 1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folders (2 cards): Lobert Gets Tenney - Dooin/Lobert (Gd-Vg) and Tenney Lands Safely - Latham/Raymond (Fr).
