Description

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. In addition to being his rookie card, 1952 Topps card #407 Eddie Mathews (Boston Braves) is also one of only a few key Hall of Famers in the rare high-number series. As the last card in the set, it is also a condition rarity. Just as card #1 Pafko was subject to wear due to gravitating to the top of the pile, #407 Mathews was also subject to excessive wear at the bottom. In anything even resembling high grade, this has always been a very difficult card to find for anyone putting together a quality 1952 Topps set. The offered card displays bold colors, outstanding registration, and light corner wear. The reverse of the card is clean. Extremely attractive example (and for this card, exceptionally high grade) of this important condition rarity that would be at home in any high-grade 1952 Topps set or Hall of Fame rookie-card collection.
