Lot # 352: 1909-1911 T206 White Border Matty McIntyre - Interesting Printing Anomaly

Presented is an interesting and unusual printing anomaly of Matty McIntyre (Detroit Tigers) from the classic T206 White Border series. In addition to being a hand-cut blank back, the card also features a color variation on the front that has resulted in a white background and an out-of-focus image. Hand-cut and encapsulated by SGC as Authentic as a result, the card likely originates from a factory-run sheet that was not up to standards and was then discarded as scrap. In addition to the irregular cut along multiple edges, the card has a small tear along the left edge, multiple creases, and substantial paper loss along the blank reverse. When it comes to the T206 set, which is the most highly collected of all vintage-card sets, anything unusual (especially if it might in any way shed light on the mysteries of how the T206 set was printed) is of great note. This is undoubtedly a noteworthy T206 printing error that we believe will be of great interest to T206 scholars and collectors. The T206 set, affectionately known as "The Monster," is the most popular of all 1910-era sets and is still yielding new and exciting discoveries more than a century after its production. As collectors have become more sophisticated, their appreciation for all great rarities and unusual cards associated with this landmark set has grown.
