Description

Rarely offered example of Lou Gehrig from the R315 "Portraits and Action" series. The R315 set has been referred to as the "Portraits and Action" series ever since Jefferson Burdick named it in the 1930s in his first American Card Catalog. It is unknown exactly how they were issued or whether this is a formal name provided by the issuer. This example has outstanding picture quality (which can sometimes be an issue with R315). Graded POOR 10 by SGC, flaws include a small tear along the bottom border and a few small spots of paper loss along the front. R315s are found printed on several different quality stocks. This example is printed on the highest-quality black-and-white style stock. This is a very presentable example of this 1929 card featuring the "Iron Horse" in a fielding pose, and it would be a worthy addition to any Lou Gehrig or prewar-card collection.
