Description

Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. Outstanding mid-grade example of Cleveland Indians Hall of Famer Addie Joss in the rare pitching pose from the highly desirable E90-1 American Caramel series. Similar to the Cracker Jack of Mathewson that was issued in two poses (though one in the #144 set and the other in the #176 set), Joss is a key Hall of Famer who has two poses in the E90-1 set. The horizontal pitching pose is incredibly rare and is one of the key extreme rarities of the entire E90-1 set. We believe the E90-1 horizontal pitching pose of Joss is rarer than even Joe Jackson in this set, and the PSA Population Report supports this theory very strongly: Only 43 rare Joss horizontals in all grades have ever been graded, compared to a total of 107 Joe Jacksons. E90-1 American Caramel is one of the most challenging of all caramel-card sets to complete, specifically because the set includes several extremely rare cards such as the horizontal Addie Joss pitching pose card. When we see near-complete sets of E90-1, both Joss (horizontal pose) and Jackson are almost always missing. Joss is one of the most desirable of all E90-1 rarities, one of the most desirable of all Hall of Famers in the set, and, of course, is also one of the rarest and most desirable of all cards of Addie Joss. The offered card features beautiful colors, excellent registration, even corner wear, and light creasing. Clean reverse. This is a fantastic example of a key Hall of Famer rarity from the most popular caramel-card set of the era.
