Description

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Rarely seen example of Hall of Famer Willie Mays of the New York Giants from the extremely rare 1952 Coca-Cola Playing Tips test set. Many consider the 1952 Coca-Cola Playing Tips test set to be among the rarest of all regional cards, and it is also one of the most distinctive in design. There are only four cards in the set (representing two players - Mays and Rizzuto), and Mays is undeniably the key card. The front of the card pictures a young "Say Hey Kid" holding a bottle of the endorsed product. The lower portion of the card features the home game schedule of the New York Giants. The reverse features a detailed biography of Mays instead of playing tips. The offered card has vibrant colors, a strong image, and honest corner wear. Clean reverse. There is a pair of tiny surface abrasions along Mays' throat noted for accuracy. This is a beautiful mid-grade example of this striking and unusual Mays card from the extremely rare 1952 Coca-Cola Playing Tips test issue.
