Lot # 2526: 1970 Topps Super Partial Set (31/42) Plus 14 Duplicates Including Clemente, Mays, and Rose

Presented is a partial set of 1970 Topps Super consisting of thirty-one different cards (out of forty-two in the set), plus fourteen duplicates (#6, 7, 13 McCovey, 15 Niekro, 30, three 31, two 33 Gibson, 39, two 41, and 42). This set is highlighted by many Hall of Famers and stars including Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, and Pete Rose. Condition is 24% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 22% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 54% Vg to Vg-Ex (including three lesser and six trimmed). Keys: #8 Bench (slightly miscut top edge, otherwise Ex-Mt), 12 Clemente (Vg-Ex), 18 Mays (Vg due solely to miscut centering), 34 Rose (Vg), 37 F. Robinson SP (Ex-Mt), and 38 Powell SP (Ex-Mt). Missing the following eleven cards for completion: #2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 19, 21, 22, 24 Aaron, 26, and 28 Jackson. Because of their scarcity relative to other Topps sets of the era, it is a little surprising that this issue has not received more attention from collectors, but this is primarily because for many years grading companies did not have holders for this large-format issue. This is no longer the case, and collectors can now build sets of these cards in graded form just like they've done for many years with standard-sized cards.
