Lot # 1749: 1963 Jell-O Complete Box #119 Willie Davis

In 1963, if you were walking down the supermarket aisle, you would have seen unopened boxes of Jell-O stacked along the shelves, with the bold company logo on the front, along with the promise of a baseball trading card on the reverse. Eager children would have undoubtedly scoured the available boxes for their favorite player and implored their parents to buy that very box so they could cut out the card and add it to their collection. Presented is an exceptional complete unassembled box of Jell-O featuring an example of #119 Willie Davis on the reverse that was spared from the inevitable cosmetic damage incurred by boxes that made it to store shelves. This is a beautiful complete box, improbably preserved for more than 60 years in unassembled form. It appears to originate directly from the printer or manufacturer and may have been retained in their files before entering the collecting world many years ago. That would also explain why the offered box boasts brilliantly bold colors and shows no significant wear and no signs of glue residue or fold lines. Aside from minor corner and edge wear, it is in Excellent condition overall. Jell-O boxes are rarely seen in their original form.
