Trio of 1914 B18 Blankets. These 5.25-inch squares of “flannel baseball cards” were issued in 1914, with several popular brands of tobacco. They are referred to as “blankets” because they were intended to be sewn together to create bed covers, pillowcases, etc. Often overlooked by collectors, B18s are beginning to be recognized both for their scarcity and for the exceptional value they represent compared to many other 1910-era baseball tobacco issues. This trio consists of the following: Daubert/blue infield (Ex), Demmitt/white infield (Vg), and Gibson/red bases (Vg-Ex). Total: 3 blankets.
