Description

Very attractive near-complete set of 30 different cards featuring Presidents of the United States, missing only the ultra-rare McKinley for completion. The U.S. Caramel “Presidents” set is considered by most collectors to be complete at 30 cards. There was, of course, a 31st card issued, of legendary rarity President William McKinley, but this card was intentionally distributed in very short supply. The reverse of each card informs youngsters that if they collected the entire series of 31 cards, the set could be redeemed for a one-pound box of assorted chocolates. By making McKinley incredibly rare on purpose, U.S. Caramel saved themselves the expense of giving away pounds and pounds of free chocolates. At the same time, they might have even encouraged extra sales, as youngsters kept buying pack after pack in a futile attempt to complete their sets. Condition is 10 Ex or slightly better, six Vg-Ex, nine Vg, Gd, and two lesser (including Washington). This is a very attractive medium-grade complete set (minus McKinley) from one of card collecting's most popular nonsport issues. Total: 30 cards.
