Graded EX 60 by SGC. Superb mid-grade example of Cleveland Naps Hall of Famer Addie Joss from the T205 Gold Border set. This card displays vibrant colors, outstanding registration, and honest corner wear. The Piedmont Cigarettes advertising reverse is boldly printed. Joss is a particularly significant card in T205 because he is both a key Hall of Famer and one of the rarest cards in the set. This is an even more significant card than most collectors realize, as the T205 of Joss is actually a memorial card. Joss tragically passed away from meningitis on April 14, 1911, cutting short one of baseball's greatest careers. Few collectors realize that the text on the reverse of the card specifically refers to his death in 1911 as a "great loss to his team and to the national game," closing with "He was a faithful player liked by his team mates and respected by the public, many thousands of whom attended his funeral." This is an excellent mid-grade example of one of the most important and desirable cards ever issued of the legendary Hall of Famer Addie Joss.
