Description

Presented is a collection of fifteen 1909-1911 T206 White Border baseball cards, all depicting Fred Tenney. The Ivy-League educated Tenney was a star of his day, cranking out more than 2,200 hits during a seventeen-year career with the New York Giants and the National League Boston franchise. Tenney is considered one of the top defensive first basemen of the Deadball Era and is credited with originating the 3-6-3 double play and popularizing the defensive positioning (deep and well off first base) that is common to this day. Nine card display Piedmont backs while six display Sweet Caporal. Condition is Pr overall, with one lesser (missing parts of the card) and a few that present better but are downgraded due to back damage. Total: 15 cards.
