Presented is a collection of six 1910-era baseball cards depicting Fred Tenney. The Ivy-League educated Tenney was a star of his day, cranking out more than 2,200 hits during a seventeen-year career with the New York Giants and the National League Boston franchise. Tenney is considered one of the top defensive first basemen of the Deadball Era and is credited with originating the 3-6-3 double play and popularizing the defensive positioning (deep and well off first base) that is common to this day. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1909-1911 T206 White Border (1 card): Tenney (Pr-Fr due to small spot of paper loss on front). 2) 1909-1911 E90-1 American Caramel (1 card): Tenney (glue residue on reverse, otherwise Vg). 3) 1909-1911 E91-B American Caramel (1 card): Tenney (Pr-Fr). 4) 1910 E104-1 Nadja Caramels (1 card): Tenney/blank back (Pr). 5) 1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folder (2 cards): "Lobert Gets Tenney" Lobert/Dooin (Gd+) and "Tenney Lands Safely" Raymond/Latham (Gd+). Total: 6 cards.
