Description

Official "Uniform Player's Contract" dated January 15, 1948, between Al Kozar and the Washington American League Baseball Club. Signed on the interior in black ink by team president Clark Griffith and Kozar. The four-page agreement calls for Kozar to receive a salary of $7,500 for the 1948 season. Kozar appeared in 150 games for the Senators during the 1948 season. Clark Griffith enjoyed a lifetime in baseball, first as a star pitcher, then as a manager, and finally as owner of the Washington Senators, where he rose to prominence as one of the most influential figures in the game. The contract (8.5 x 11 inches) displays two horizontal folds and scattered discolorations. In Good condition overall. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
