Lot # 2434: 1940s to 1970s Detroit Tigers Signed Real-Photo Postcard Collection (202) Including Kaline, Mathews, Gehringer, and Kell

Tremendous collection of 202 real-photo postcards, individually signed by former Detroit Tigers players dating from the 1940s to the 1970s. All the signatures, scripted in a variety of inks, appear on the front. The group also includes eight signed George Brace photos. The collection is highlighted by a number of Hall of Famers and stars, including Earl Averill, Rick Ferrell, Charlie Gehringer, Bucky Harris, Al Kaline (2), George Kell, Eddie Mathews, Hal Newhouser, Aurelio Lopez (tragically killed in a car accident at the young age of 44), Babe Herman (3), Ted Gray (2), Joe Niekro, Fred Hatfield (2), Bill Tuttle, Harvey Kuenn (2), Birdie Tebbetts (2), and Eddie Lake. Most of the postcards (3.5 x 5.5 inches) display the player's name written on the reverse; otherwise they are in Excellent or better condition overall (with a few lesser).
