1978 and 1979 Hostess near-complete set pair. From 1975 to 1979, Hostess issued sets of 150 cards on the bottom of boxes of Hostess snack-cake products, with one three-card panel appearing on the bottom of each box. The sets were sensationally successful, and collectors all over the country were seen stocked up on Hostess products. This collection consists of cards hand cut into singles, with almost all of the cards scissor-cut outside (or through) the dotted lines. Overall condition is 82% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including some Mint), 9% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 9% Vg to Vg-Ex (mostly Vg-Ex). This collection consists of the following: 1) 1978 Near-Complete Set (149/150): Includes both black and brown-back variations for the following five cards: #52, 91, 92, 93, and 96; as well as one wrong back variation (#112 front, 127 back). Missing only #31 Murray for completion. Keys: #27 Brett (Nr/Mt +), 44 Bench (Vg+), 83 Ryan (Vg+ due to very small spot of paper loss on reverse), 113 Schmidt (Nr/Mt-Mt), 127 Lopes (front)/Torrez (Nr/Mt-Mt, wrong back), and 128 Rose (Ex). 2) 1979 Near-Complete Set (149/150): Keys: #9 Schmidt (Nr/Mt-Mt), 68 Brett (Nr/Mt-Mt), 101 Ryan (Nr/Mt-Mt), 115 Murray (Vg-Ex+), 128 Bench (Nr/Mt-Mt+)and 144 Rose (Ex+).
