Lot # 4880: Baseball and Football Signed Index-Card Collection (489) with 28 Hall of Famers Including Dan Marino and Sandy Koufax

This impressive signed index-card collection consists of 489 MLB, NFL, and Minor League Baseball signatures, including twenty-eight Hall of Famers. All of the index cards are standard-size (3 x 5 inches) and include both lined and unlined examples. Approximately five percent of the signatures are in the form of cuts. Signatures, penned in a variety of inks, range from "7" to "10," with a few lesser This collection was consigned to us in an old-time photo album that utilized an adhesive surface to keep the cards in place. Eighty-six of the cards in the collection are liberated from the album, with some showing a bit of adhesive residue or minor paper loss outside of the signatures. These cards range in condition from Fr to Ex (averaging Vg), with many showing notations on the front and/or back. The remaining 403 index cards are still adhered to the double-sided album pages. These cards are tightly stuck to the pages, but no additional glue or tape was used, so it may possible to remove theme with a little ingenuity. The careers of the players represented here span many decades, with the vast majority having played between the years 1920 and 1990. Approximately 60% of the names in this collection were immediately familiar to us. Obviously, for a collection this size it would be impractical to list each signature, but our inventory includes every Hall of Famer and some of the more noteworthy names we saw when processing the collection. The collection does include a few duplicates.
