Presented is a very attractive Callahan Hall of Fame near-complete set (70 out of 82), together with the original box. Issued annually from 1950 to 1956, the Callahan Hall of Fame card set was the official set of the Hall of Fame. It was updated each year until 1956 with the inductees from that year as well as some corrections and updates. The end result is an 82-card basic set and a 91-card master set (including nine cards with two variations). The cards released in the later years of the set are very rare. Includes a duplicate of Ban Johnson. This near-complete basic set is missing the following twelve cards for completion: Baker, Chance, Chandler, DiMaggio, Hartnett, Hornsby, Lyons, Ott, Schalk, Vance, Wagner, and Young. Condition is 81% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including severall bordering on Mint) and 19% Ex to Ex-Mt. Keys: Cobb (Nr/Mt-Mt), Cochran (Ex-Mt), Gehrig (Nr/Mt-Mt), W. Johnson (Nr/Mt), Mathewson (Nr/Mt-Mt), and Ruth (Nr/Mt-Mt). The original box is in Fair condition, with creasing, a tear, and missing pieces from one end flap. This is an outstanding high-grade near-complete set of one of card collecting's most overlooked 1950s issues. Total: 72 items (near set of 70 plus a duplicate and box). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
