Description

Presented is an attractive mixed-grade collection of 1970 and 1971 Fleer "World Series" complete and near-complete sets. The 1970 set consists of 66 cards covering the 1903 through 1969 World Series (excluding 1904, when the World Series was canceled) with artwork by R.G. Laughlin. The 1971 set consists of 68 cards, offering new artwork and two additional cards covering the 1904 cancellation ("No Series") and the 1970 World Series. Included is an original 1970 wrapper (Gd). 1) 1970 Complete Set (66 cards): The 1970 cards display considerable size variance, with many falling short of the 2.5 x 3.5 inches catalog standard. Without further reference to card size, condition ranges from Vg to Ex-Mt (averaging Vg-Ex/Ex). 2) 1970 Near-Complete Set (65/66) Plus Three Duplicates: Missing only #66 for completion. Condition is 42% Ex to Ex-Mt (including some Nr/Mt) and 58% ranging from Pr to Vg-Ex (averaging Fr-Gd and mostly due to moisture damage). 3) 1971 Near-Complete Set (67/68 cards) Plus 10 duplicates: Missing only #68 for completion. Condition is 19% Nr/Mt or better, 20% Ex to Ex-Mt, 26% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 35% lesser. Total: 211 cards plus wrapper. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
