Description

Exceptional San Diego Padres home jersey worn by Hall of Fame outfielder Dave Winfield during the 1977 season. Graded A10 by Mears. The white knit jersey is lettered "Padres" across the front and features the number "31" on the left breast and reverse. The name "Winfield" is lettered on the reverse (upon a white nameplate) directly above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in brown-on-yellow tackle twill. A "Wilson 44" label appears along the collar. Located on the left front tail is a white strip tag bearing the Winfield's jersey number and the year ("31 77") chain-stitched in black. The jersey is original as issued with no alterations. Heavy wear is evident throughout, indicating this jersey saw substantial game action throughout the season. A first-time All-Star in 1977, Winfield concluded the campaign with a .275 average, 25 home runs, and 92 RBI. Winfield finished his twenty-two-season career with twelve All-Star Game appearances, 3,110 hits (twenty-third on the all-time list), 465 home runs, and 1,833 RBI. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2001. LOA from Troy Kinunen/MEARS.
