Description

George Brett signature-model "M142" bat dating from the 1974 manufacturing period. Per PSA/DNA, the "bat exhibits evidence of heavy use with a crack on the center brand and water damage to the finish of the top barrel. Many ball marks are visible on the barrel and there is a light coat of pine tar on the upper handle. The condition of the barrel indicates the bat saw post player use." Brett has signed the bat in blue marker on the barrel, adding the year "1973" below his signature. Brett debuted for the Kansas City Royals in 1973 and was the team's everyday third baseman by 1974. Beginning in 1975, Brett batted over .300 on eleven separate occasions, including league-leading totals of .333 in 1976, .390 in 1980, and .329 in 1990. Brett retired in 1993 with a .305 average, 3,154 hits, 317 home runs and 1,595 RBI. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999 in his first year of eligibility. Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 31.2 ounces. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (bat only). Full LOA from Joe Orlando of PSA/DNA (signature only).
