Description

New Orleans/Utah Jazz home jersey worn by Hall of Famer Pete Maravich during the 1978-1979 season. This year marked the final season for the Jazz in New Orleans before they headed west to Utah. Graded A10 by MEARS. The mesh knit jersey is lettered "Jazz" across the front and features the number "7" on both the front and reverse. "Maravich" is lettered on the reverse above the number. Maravich's name is appliquéd in purple tackle twill while the team logo and Maravich's number have been appliquéd in purple. Located on the left front tail is a "Medalist/Sand-Knit 44" size tag and an adjacent "42" label. The jersey is original, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear. While Maravich enjoyed success with the Atlanta Hawks at the beginning of his professional career, it was with the Jazz, between the years 1974 and 1979, that "Pistol Pete" established himself as one of the NBA's most electrifying players. Among his many achievements and honors during that time were a scoring title (1976-1977), two All-NBA First Team selections, and two All-NBA Second Team selections. Maravich retired in 1980 and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. Full LOA from MEARS.
