1921 W551 Uncut Strip-Card Panel with Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker PSA VG-EX+ 4.5

Graded VG-EX+ 4.5 by PSA. This is the ONLY example graded at this level by PSA with only a single example grading higher! Exceptional five-card strip of W551 players, highlighted by three key Hall of Famers in Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Tris Speaker. Issued in 1921, the W551 series is a 40-card set originally issued on 10-card panels. Within the set are ten baseball players. These colorful cards are referred to as "strip cards" because they were originally issued in uncut sheets or "strips" and were cut apart, as intended, with scissors. In the early days of the organized hobby, strip cards did not "get any respect." It is only in recent years that collectors have begun to appreciate the distinctive look and tremendous value these cards represent. The offered panel is in outstanding condition with vibrant colors, flawless registration, light touches at the corners (a bit more on the upper-left), and a clean blank back. This W551 panel is particularly rare, striking, and unusual!
