Boston Red Sox road jersey, most notably worn by Jerry Remy during the 1978 season. The gray knit road jersey is lettered "Boston" on the front and features the number "2" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in red on blue tackle twill. Both a "McAuliffe" label and a "40" size tag appear in the collar. Remy has signed the jersey in blue marker on the front. The jersey exhibits heavy wear, with scattered staining visible throughout. Please note that the jersey is missing the year and laundry tags along the exterior front tail. The jersey also appears to have extra length. While Doug Griffin briefly wore this jersey during the 1977 campaign (he was released June 21 that season), it wasn't until it was reissued to Remy for the following season that this jersey gained its significance. In 1978, his first year with the Red Sox, Remy hit .278 with 30 stolen bases, earning an All-Star selection while anchoring second base in Boston's memorable pennant race. Following a successful ten-year Major League career with the California Angels and Red Sox, Remy transitioned seamlessly into the broadcast booth. He went on to become a beloved NESN color commentator, calling Red Sox games for 33 years until his passing.
