1911 T3 Turkey Red #27 Christy Mathewson SGC VG/EX 4 - Rare Checklist (No Offer) Reverse

Graded VG/EX 4 by SGC. This is the only example (no offer) graded at this level by SGC with just one higher. Presented is an extraordinary mid-grade example of legendary Hall of Fame pitcher Christy Mathewson (New York Giants) with a rarely-seen “no offer” checklist-back variation. This is only the third "no offer" example of Mathewson we have ever offered. The offered example is bright, crisp, and clean, with brilliant colors and strong corners (weaker lower left). The clean reverse of this card features a checklist of cards #1-76 but is missing the text below the checklist, which outlines the redemption offer in which coupons from Turkey Red, Old Mill, or Fez Cigarettes products could be exchanged by mail for one of the cards. These checklist (no offer) cards are particularly scarce. Turkey Reds are considered by many to be the most beautiful and well-made tobacco set ever issued. This card would make a significant addition to any world-class Turkey Red, Hall of Fame, or Christy Mathewson card collection.
