Description

This impressive display piece, picturing bust-length photos of thirty-seven members of the 1934 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, was issued to commemorate the team's 1935 National Championship with a win over Stanford in the Rose Bowl. Led by future Hall of Famer Don Hutson, future Alabama football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, and Dixie Howell (played both professional football and baseball), the Crimson Tide went 10-0 that season. The signature of Dixie Howell appears atop his image in black ink. The display (9 x 12 inches), which is printed on paper stock and appears to have been cut down from a larger size, has a number of condition flaws including heavy creasing, several edge tears, and a large tear in the center. Several pieces of tape are visible on the reverse to repair the tears. Poor condition.
