Offered is an exceptional original photograph of Michael Jordan as a member of the Chicago Bulls, circa 1985. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I rookie-era photograph by PSA/DNA. The photo (8 x 10 inches), captures Jordan in a solo-shot with his hands on his knees during a break in the action. This is important to note as many Jordan photos depict him alongside other players. The photo presents with great clarity and the reverse displays multiple handwritten editorial notations. The PSA/DNA Letter of Authenticity notes that the photo originates from the Sporting News archive. The third overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft, Jordan had one of the finest rookie seasons in NBA history, averaging 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 2.4 steals. He was named an All-Star starter, awarded NBA Rookie of the Year, and selected to the All-NBA Second Team. After a mid-season clash against the Boston Celtics, in which Jordan finished with 41 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals, Larry Bird remarked, “Never seen anyone like him. Unlike anyone I’ve ever seen. Phenomenal. One of a kind. That’s what I mean about the league. With guys like him coming in from college year after year, we just can’t help but get a better image, better crowds, better TV ratings. He’s the best. Ever.” Excellent to Near Mint condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
